I was first blown away by Mike’s breadth of knowledge, when I attended the ‘Short Form Filmmaking & Social Media Panel’ at The Downtown LA Film Festival. Even as a millennial, the social media frontier is still vast and wild to me. The concept of ‘influencers’ was virtually non-existent 5 years ago, and now we all know many individuals and companies making millions off of engaged followers. Learn a thing or two from Mike Butler, Founder & Vice President of Social Media at Image Architect Consulting Group, about how to navigate ‘app’ age.
Vivian: How and why did you get started in social media branding?
Mike: Social media is how we communicate, how we connect to the rest of the world. I took my skills as a successful marketing director, along with my passion for social media and founded IMAGE Architect Consulting Group. We’re a social media management company whose mission is to strengthen and grow the social brand of companies, individuals, and products while creating a strong return on interaction, through strategically designed campaigns, analytics, influencers, and our unique around the clock system of engagement.
V: What is a “brand”? How do you define it?
A brand is defined by a person’s, product’s, or company’s image, look and feel. It’s how they want to be publicly identified.
V: What makes someone an “influencer”? Having a lot of followers?
It’s more than just having a lot of followers. An influencer is someone who creates a community of fans that deem them as a public figure or a socialite who can truly evoke influence upon them.
We seek individuals that offer a talent and/or brand of their own with at least 5% percent engagement on their platform, and 100% engagement with their fans.
V: What are the differences and similarities between what you do and what a publicist does?
We feel a publicist gets you in the door and creates physical connections. We will build your brand through social media management that creates greater career opportunities for our clients because we are able to go beyond the physical and reach millions of people.
V: What social platforms do personal brands need to be on?
We believe as long as you are getting socially F.I.T (Facebook,
Instagram, and Twitter) you are in good shape. However, Snap Chat is ideal for illustrating a raw and uncensored version of your brand.
V: At what stage in someone’s career would they come to you for help?
Any time, really. It’s never too soon to build your brand through social media. We have packages that fit anyone’s needs. We creatively grow our client’s social media presence so that don’t have to.
