Here are the rest of my tips for making the best out of a Vegas experience based off of my New Year’s/ Birthday Extravaganza.
For a quick recap: tip #1 was “shows, shows, shows” and tip #2 was “gamble with a conscious”.
- Party Hard
(Ghostbar Rooftop Bar & Lounge)
You can’t go to Vegas without exploring the nightlife! Luckily, ladies get to party and partake in libations for free! Similar to New York and Los Angeles, promoters come a dime a dozen. Post a #Vegas hashtag on Instagram or Twitter and I can almost guarantee that a promoter will leave their contact information. If you have a private social media profile, you can find the non-sketchy promoters in the more upscale hotels on the strip. I spent New Year’s Eve at 1Oak in the Mirage. J.Cole was the special guest performer and the cast from E!’s, “Rich Kids of Beverly Hills” also made an appearance. Although I had a blast, the venue was a little too small for me. My favorite club was Marquee at the Cosmopolitan. If you’re into mega clubs, you’ll definitely enjoy Marquee. With multiple floors, this club offered everything from house to techno to hip hop and top 40!
- Experience the Desert
I’m a recently converted city girl who grew up in the suburbs. The thought of nature gives me the creeps, so when my boyfriend suggested spending the day in the desert I was a little weary. But, by the end of the day I was hooked! We spent six hours 4-wheeling and zip lining in the Moapa Valley. We even got to go hiking in Nevada’s Valley of Fire. The desert tour was absolutely breathtaking! I was able to channel my inner speed demon, while taking in the beauty of the Western Frontier. I definitely recommend getting off of the strip and experiencing a taste of nature. Depending on the season you can venture out to Lake Mead or Moapa Valley for a variety of outdoor sports.
- Splurge on the Hotel
I’m super picky when it comes to hotels. I always scour TripAdvisor, Expedia and the travel blogs before booking. During my trip I stayed at the infamous Palms Resort & Casino (as featured on Bravo and MTV). Despite being located off of the strip, the Palms hosted a variety of trendy amenities. For example, I had my birthday toast at Ghostbar, an indoor/outdoor lounge that has the best penthouse view of the city! In addition to Ghostbar, the Palms had a full movie theater, two dance clubs, spa ($15 for hotel guests), awesome restaurants and an ultra sexy casino! If you’re looking to stay on the strip, I definitely recommend the Cosmopolitan. The Cosmo is very sleek and trendy, perfect for a girls trip! There’s also an awesome Jose Andrés restaurant called China Poblano (Asian-Mexican Fusion) that offers delicious tapas and drinks! If you’re on a budget, I recommend the Hard Rock Hotel or Planet Hollywood. Both hotels are great for college crowds.
I hope that these tips will help when you’re planning your next Vegas vacation. Whether it’s spring break, a girls’ trip or a random getaway, go big or go home!
