October 2013’s Portrait of a Lady is 18-year-old Elizabeth Tran
Elizabeth Tran is an 18-year-old volunteer activist. For six years, she has run a non-profit organization, Teens Go Green, to encourage youth to follow the 4 R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle, and respect. This has led her to being featured on “Good Morning America” and working with Disney’s Friends for Change.
Committing herself to service, Elizabeth has raised an astonishing $42,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through her annual Miss Miracle Charity Pageant and Model 4 Miracles Fashion Show.
Outside of her volunteer work, Elizabeth is a high achieving scholar, graduating from Cypress Creek High School’s International Baccalaureate Program with a 5.15 GPA. Elizabeth is currently a Freshman at the University of Miami on a full academic scholarship. In school, she serves on the board for Energy Conservation Organization (ECO), the environmental branch of University of Miami’s student government. She is majoring in Broadcast Journalism and hopes to be the Public Relations Specialist for the US Environmental Protection Agency.
For fun, she loves spending time with her family, sleeping on the beach, and going to Disney World. Currently, she is National American Miss Florida Teen, and will compete for the national pageant in Hollywood, California this Thanksgiving week!
